How It All Began

Our Love Story

Every love story is beautiful, but ours is our favorite.

We met at work, and I noticed Jay right away — he was bold, interesting, and (of course) cute. It didn't take long for us to realize how much we had in common. Music and video games gave us an easy excuse to keep talking, and before I knew it, the best part of my day was our lunchtime walks at the park near work. Just the two of us, wandering and talking and slowly getting to know each other. Looking back, I think that's exactly when I started falling for him.

Our first official date was at Artisan Grill in Amherstburg, followed by ice cream — where Jay made the bold (there's that word again) choice of pickle-flavoured ice cream. Let's just say it didn't pair well with the creamy pasta from dinner. Lesson learned. We still laugh about it.

What I love most about Jay is his mind. He knows something about everything, and he impresses me every single day with how much he understands about the world and about life. I never run out of things to learn from him.

He proposed up north, during our yearly cottage vacation, on the docks at sunset — the most beautiful moment I could have imagined. His daughter Madison was there to capture it all on camera, which made it even more special. In that moment, I couldn't wait to start forever with him.

Now I get to look forward to the simple, perfect things: waking up next to him every day, heading to work together, and coming home to watch a movie side by side. I can't wait.
